All Terhi boats are built with ABS thermo-plastic, a unique boat building material. When combined with Terhi´s highly developed techniques, the result is boats that are incomparably strong and practically unsinkable. ABS thermoplastic sheets are thermoformed over cast aluminium molds to produce hull and deck parts. The hull and deck are then placed in a foaming mold and filled with closed-cell, non-absorbing polyurethane foam which adheres completely to both pieces under almost 30,000 kg/m2 or 6,000 lbs/ft2, of pressure, resulting in a highly rigid but above all strong and durable sandwich construction.
The ABS is UV protected, resistant to all weather conditions and resistant to pounding blows that would destroy boats built of lesser materials. To ensure safety and quality, each and every Terhi boat has fulfilled all the technical and safety requirements for recreational small boats. In addition to the common European CE certification, Terhi boats have the approval of the National Board of Navigation in accordance with the Nordic Boat Standard (NBS). They comply with U.S. Coast Guard safety standards and most models fulfil the German GS safety norms of commercial traffic.

Terhi is not only a safe choice for the boater, but also for the environment. Located in the middle of the beautiful Finnish archipelago, Terhi knows nature is worth protecting and functions with this in mind. As early as 1994, Terhi was awarded an environmental prize by Finnish nature conservation and navigation authorities. The Terhi factory produces no pollutants hazardous to the surrounding nature or air. The ABS thermoplastic is recyclable and all plastic waste from the production is reused. The polyurethane foam contains no CFC- compounds harmful to the ozone layer of the atmosphere.
